1. Motocross Helmets
First on your list is a quality helmet, to protect your head and neck during impact, and to prevent or reduce head injury. A typical motocross helmet will possess elongated chin and visor portions, a chin bar, and a partially open face, to give you extra protection whilst wearing goggles. The visor will help keep the sun out of your eyes - particularly important during jumps. You'll want your helmet to fit well, without being uncomfortable. And, do remember to buy a new one if you have an accident.
2. Motocross Goggles
Remember to take your helmet with you when buying goggles, as you'll want the goggle frame to fit into the helmet eyeport. You'll be looking for a really durable pair that fit comfortably against your face, stay secure, and offer good peripheral vision.
3. Motocross Boots
It's true that good motocross boots are costly. But, you'll need to buy boots specifically designed for motocross in order to obtain the necessary protection of not only your feet, but also your ankles and legs. No point in purchasing cheap boots just to fracture your foot after a fall! Take your time choosing them... try several different makes, and ensure the ones you finally pick are snug and comfortable.
4. Motocross Gloves
Your gloves will protect your hand, palm and fingers in case of a fall, and against the weather. They should also improve your grip. You'll be after a pair that's comfortable, and fairly lightweight.
5. Motocross Pants
Even in warmer weather, it's best to wear full motocross pants to protect your legs from light burns and scrapes. They should be made of a lightweight material which allows ventilation, with enough room for you to wear knee guards.
6. Motocross Jerseys
Look for a jersey made from rip-resistant material, preferably with added padding at the shoulders and elbows. Make sure it's comfortable, allowing plenty of room for movement. It's a good idea to wear extra elbow guards.
7. Motocross Body Armor
Body armor is your next very important body accessory for motocross racing. Choose a body armor that fully protects your chest, shoulders and your back. Choose a motocross body armor that is made from tough yet flexible material. Good body armor should let you move freely and easily and be able to provide the proper protection that you need. Choose a body armor that has enough ventilation in it to keep you comfortable.
8. Motocross Neck Brace
And, finally, don't forget your neck. Wear a brace to reduce neck and spinal injuries.
